E.D.D.A. plus, LLC

Course Duration: 28 hours between 6 weeks and to include homework/class prep. Meeting Saturday from 8:30am-12:30pm (effective for all 2025 classes), excluding holidays and Tuesday evening classes meet from 6pm-9:30pm.
Tuesday classes (Longmont/Firestone) start at 6pm and end conclude at 9:30pm.

Course Title:  E.D.D.A. skills overview

 

Course Description: This course covers detailed instruction in the specialties of composite procedures with a focus on Class I,II,III, and V Composite restorations. The participants will complete procedures on 11 different teeth, rather than just 2 that other courses offer. Skills developed in the completion of quadrant restorative dentistry. Denture care and patient dignity. The participants will place and remove retraction cord and will have an in-depth lecture on the construction of a proper acrylic provisional and assessment of the final impression.

 

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course the student will have additional knowledge and improved skills in-regards to the completion of all restorative procedures with a focus on Class II composites and quadrant completion. Removable Prosthodontics will be covered to enhance knowledge in the adjustment and delivery of removable prosthetics. Students will perform procedures within a time limit to stay on schedule and produce quality restorations. Team building skills through communication will be enhanced. Margin identification and retraction cord placement. Troubleshooting cementation of permanent restorations. Knowing the distinction on what is heavy occlusion on a restoration and where to make adjustments. The placement of the tofflemire matrix and matrix free systems along with correct wedge selection and placement. Students will have a better understanding of point angle and line angle.  

 

Describe the role and responsibilities of the E.D.D.A. and their function in a dental practice. 

Discuss line angle and point angle in reference to tooth preparation and restoration.  

Focus in the placement of Class II composite restorations with a major focus on contacts and occlusal morphology.

 

Describe the factors that can lead to an ill fitting removable or fixed prosthetic and how to problem solve. 

Identify the margin in a permanent impression. 

Describe and execute proper retraction cord placement. 

Identify improper and proper acrylic provisional design. 

Discuss the benefit of a proper acrylic provisional design and the impact on improper design. 

Identify the marginal ridge on a CII composite or amalgam restoration. 

Student to complete all classifications of composite restorations  

Adjusting composites using a slow speed handpiece and extensive role play for utilizing a HS handpiece

 

Discuss the curve of Spee in the relation to occlusion.  

Identify correct contact points in the arches and their importance. 

Students will demonstrate the placement of and removal of different matrix systems. 

Student will demonstrate the placement of wedges and the need for the correct size selection 

Team building role play, soft skills and professional communication skills

Discussion and Role Play in solving interpersonal differences within the office.  

Discussions on the value of work ethic 

 

Method of Instructing: Lecture and quizzes covering  Class I, II, III, IV and O and V restorative  composite procedures. Paradigm Shifts, Crown & Bridge, Work Ethic and Team Building. 4 hours of uninterrupted clinic each session along with weekly homework  (28 hrs total) for completion of the course. Extensive role play and lesson summarization and introduction to each new class.        

                                

Attendance Policy:   This is an accelerated program and consists of (six) 6 sessions, full attendance and participation is critical for success in our program.  Students must be in their seats at 8:30 am in our Saturday sessions and for our Tuesday evening classes at 6:00 pm sharp to begin class,  breaks will be taken as needed but class will continue. 

Class concludes at 12:00 pm on Saturdays and 9:30 pm on Tuesday evenings
